I was talking about the idea of a separate life form

That term is vague as you use it.

Separate is vague because the embryo may split into multiple embryos. Separate is also vague because the group of cells that are splitting from a conception cannot under current technology, continue to exist alive by themselves. They are not separate from their host.

Life form is the most vague of all.
The sperm is a life form.
The egg is a life form.
The forms change and fuse and do their chemical magic and are still a lifeform. They might be infected with a virus or a parasite and still be a lifeform. You can have a lifeform within a lifeform.

Anytime you discuss a lifeform in terms other than "not dead" you must bring in theology an philosophy.
