You could get 80% oil use reduction. That would be quite difficult and expensive but its possible. We aren't going to get an 80% greater efficiency. If we get an 80% reduction in use, it will be from doing less with oil. Replacing oil use with other sources of energy whenever possible, and when we do use oil, we can still do less with it; driving less, smaller cars rather than larger cars, in some cases motorcycles or scooters, or micro cars replacing smaller cars, plug-in hybrids using a source other than oil for short trips, or perhaps electric cars replacing gasoline powered cars. In none of these cases are you getting 80% more work out of oil, your either substituting something else for oil, or doing less work.
