Debate, sure. Sniping, no. Since many of the most active participants on the topic feel compelled to fall back on insults when their tempers are up, why not do it all elsewhere. If it's the most important topic going as someone else suggested, doesn't it merit its own thread?

What we are getting here now are largely stale recitations of the same fact base, cherrypicked different ways to prove one side or the other. Not very interesting, IMHO.

But maybe a thread where that information could be archived and built on over time would do better.

I believe my position on GW is the "view from the center".

I agree that that's the center. It's my position, too.

The thing is, that's really plain old environmentalism, not GW. We--and by "we" I mean not only the thread but the country--can discuss the environment rationally, it seems.

The GW issue, however, has turned into a freak show. It's too politicized and polarized and, dare I say, religious. Might as well try to have a discussion on an active caldera.
