Industry is already under very strong competitive pressure to reduce energy consumption and costs. Why wont they just move to China with a carbon tax being the last motivator. As we can already see we export our industry and coal there and get back their pollution.

Decreasing our competitive position wont reduce emissions.

The idea of the government finding another method to increase revenues and gain spending power is quite alarming.

Any policy that increases domestic costs will only drive industries else where. Cap and trade will be an economic disaster. To enter into such a policy if the rest of the world does not is ludicrous on its face.

Cannot everyone see that a $7 tillion tax revenue is a $7 trillion cost increase to US corportations?

"Such direct and simple repayments deal with another problem. Although the balance of economic studies suggest that the cost of a cap-and-trade system will be modest, inevitably some costs will be involved and be passed along to consumers who are already walloped by high fuel and food costs and who will be in no mood to accept even modest additional price increases. Hence, the yearly dividend checks will be a welcome offset."

What do the unemployed get?

A CO2 policy without a matching energy policy is plain and simple stupid.
