I am a strong friend of the jews.

Having said that, Lieberman is Israel's man in the senate. He is worried about Iran and 1967. He feels if we are in Iraq that helps Israel.

He is a hard core liberal by nature, but he feels it is his duty to protect Israel at all costs. He has been a warrior for Israel; but he sure begs an existential dilemma for liberals i.e. he could cause the defeat of Obama, so what do we do? He is a liberal on all other issues and he is just protecting Israel as he sees it.

Leiberman will not hesitate to us the US to advance Israel's protection regardless of the cost to the US. For example backing McCain who is rabid about staying in Iraq which is bankrupting us among a thousand other problems. Lieberman may feel he has to do everything he can to defeat Obama.

It is not politically correct to comment on this, but everyone knows it.

Why do you think the Democrats can influence Lieberman? When the Dems refused to back Lieberman for the Dem seat, he went Independent and won without their support. From Lieberman's perspective, he doesn't think he owes the Dems anything, and I don't blame him. Dems can't expel him from the party, because he's not in the party any more.

I hope the dems shun Lieberman when they gain full control of the senate. Leiberman will still vote on the liberal issues because he is a liberal.
