Only in the last ~10 years have people, especially industry people, begun to recognize peak oil, and the vast majority, including you, don't grasp the implications.

I see -- the "industry people" and me don't understand it, but you do.

Okay, CJ.

Were you not aware of the upcoming "crisis" 10 years ago, 15, or 20? I certainly was, and I think most of us who were of age were, as well.

I remember distinctly during the Carter years sitting in rationing lines and realizing the looming problem. Do you not?

Yes I do, and it was an entirely different situation. It was completely political, not a supply demand issue. (And we were producing ~70% of our consumption compared to less than 40% today). Only in the last ~10 years have people, especially industry people, begun to recognize peak oil, and the vast majority, including you, don't grasp the implications.

In light of what's happening today, its amazing that Congress refused to raise mileage standards on new cars very much in its last go around on the issue. We are a country without competent leadership in the middle of a crisis.
