Oh, damn. I am in trouble. I got a rock bottom loan from Countrywide and I didn't pay any points. Fixed rate, too. I guess I should resign, then...

1. There is no such word as "perogative".

2. When a legislator receives a discount on a loan it is more than suspicious, particularly if that person sits on a committee that is critical to the lender.

When you talk about a "lousy point" you're talking about getting a low-interest loan in exchange for particular services. Add to that one of them actually lied about not "knowing" the big shot, and you have the makings of an ugly scandal.
