Nunn has a couple of advantages apart from the national security experience; he gives Obama more cred in the south where VA, NC and GA could be in play. He also retired from his seat in good standing IIRC.

Daschle was not very successful as his party's Senate leader then he lost his seat in a meaningless western state. I don't see him appealing to swing state voters much based on his political past.

Well, I prefer Daschle to Nunn for a variety of reasons but am hoping that Obama can find a fresher face for the vp slot than either of them. Someone who, when you hear the name, just doesn't feel as if the bread has grown stale.
