Oil execs have to be asking themselves "are we investing in typewriter manufacturing at the start of the computer age?". I don't think they are. Or if they are they are answering themselves "no". We aren't there yet. If political decisions delay expanding drilling a few decades, then (after adding in the additional delay for exploration, drilling, and extracting significant amounts of oil), than by the time the drilling is allowed we might be there, but not yet.
