If true and not just rumor, this would be a huge potential market, Unicom had 120 million GSM subscribers as of 12/31/07:

chinaunicom.com.hk

US AT&T is about 70 million subs

DH,

I think one of the benefits that I haven't seen mentioned is the potential for a halo type effect from the iPhone for selling Macs, especially in countries like China and India. If this halo effect is something that actually comes to pass, then all bets could be off as to how much world wide market share Apple could gain in terms of cpu units sold.

Also a question on the mobileme platform. Is this something that is available worldwide or is this something that is just a USA platform? If it is something that is available worldwide, it also has something that could potentially significantly drive revenue and profit for Apple. Anybody with a guess as to what percentage of iphone users might want to use this platform?
