Could you explain what you mean by this? What kind of "effort" and what kind of "alternatives"? He says he's going to pressure Detroit, probably with higher CAFE standards, maybe subsidies(?). Also invest in solar, wind, etc. The biggest alternative energy project to date, Pickens' wind farm, happened under Bush and scarcely got a mention. It certainly has been mentioned... you must not be paying attention. But it didn't happen because of Bush... who has done everything he can to cut alt energy subsidies so his oil buddy's keep their profits.
