Ultra-deepwater drilling rig availability dries up
Martyn Wingrove - Friday 22 February 2008
THERE are no ultra-deepwater drilling rigs available to hire in 2008 and only two in the market for 2009 after Ocean Rig’s Eirik Raude semi-submersible rig was chartered by Tullow Oil in a $700m deal, writes Martyn Wingrove.

So add even more years before drilling can make it's marginal difference. India/China demand growth will dwarf any deep water supplies we eventually, sometime get. "Drill now, drill today..." are just Republican talking points... they don't solve the problem, not even close.

They keep asking for permission but do very little new drilling.

There is a drilling boom going on.

Exactly. There are not enough rigs to go around. How come you didn't figure that one out since you knew there was a boom?
