You have to look at the big picture before you lay the blame.
If you could pay for your gas with corn, gold, fertilizer, or even Euros, the pain would be far less. It's the weak dollar and the increased worldwide demand for oil that make things as they are. If you can satisfy your anger by blaming the environmentalists, or Obama, or posters on this board, please feel free, but it won't change a thing. Of course it's all the fault of your political opponents - it always is - isn't it ?

Unlike VP Cheney, I believe that when a resource is limited, it is wise not to waste it. Have you modified anything about your daily routine to change how much gas you buy ? I have. Do you take a bus to work, or a bike, or walk, or transport yourself in any way other than by private car ? I do (but I live near the city and it's easy). Do you cut down on air conditioning and winter heating (we do). Do you drive a hybrid ? (I do - yes I know that labels me pinko). So sit up there on your high horse and condemn all those who don't want cheap oil. At the current rate, by the time my grandkids try to take to the road, there won't be a drop of oil in the US, and our colonial possessions will have run dry too.

PS - If you really do sit on a high horse, then good for you. That's another solution.
Personally, my meds are sky high, but they've been that way for quite awhile, and it's not big oil's fault (try big pharma).
