This is very bad news......in all the confusion over oil.....most people are not paying attention to what's happening to GM and F. Sadly, what I am hearing more and more is that both may go under. Neither company was prepared for $4 gas. They had staked their businesses on SUVs and trucks. How they could do that is totally and completely beyond me.

Very simple: with the overpaid workforce (vs. their productivity) forced them into narrower and narrower high margin niches ...

Yup. Beancounters will do that. Ford, in particular has some great designs in Europe. They made a stab at selling one here a few decades ago. The Ford Fiesta. Despite it selling well here, they dropped it.
