>>" It's not just about drilling. When more offshore areas are opened for exploration, that allows seismic testing. If seismic surveys indicate specific areas with high potential, drilling rigs can be reassigned to higher priority areas. "<<

Yup, 5000 or so leases already not being used...what does that mean?...not enough seismic testing done or maybe not enough skilled people or maybe the oil companies using their tax breaks and windfall profits to buy back stock or etc.,...Yup, open up ANWR. They will just take some rigs from the Gulf and fly them up there.

But then...ANWR is currently off limits but all one hears are those grand estimates of Bns upon Bns barrels of oil there...did somebody do some seismic testing on areas that are not open for exploration? Tsk, tsk.

Actually the seismic testing of the leased offshore areas in California, and test wells were completed by Chevron prior to the lease date in roughly 1979.

It's merely a process of placing production wells, connecting collector piping. The processing facility would likely be an existing Chevron tanker facility at Point Estero.

I'd estimate the project would take 4 to 5 years until significant production. This schedule could be jump-started by moving rigs and crews from other existing Chevron projects.
