>>ANWR is currently off limits... did somebody do some seismic testing on areas that are not open for exploration?<<

I was just looking at that the other day. The U.S.G.S ANWR estimates are based on 2-D seismic data collected in 1984/85, plus data from nearby wells drilled outside the boundaries. This article suggests that a modern 3-D seismic survey is needed, and hints that oil companies might be reluctant to even bid on ANWR leases without data from further seismic testing...

>>Yup, open up ANWR. They will just take some rigs from the Gulf and fly them up there.<<

There's been ongoing drilling on the North Slope for years. Presumably some of those rigs and experienced crews could be shifted over to nearby ANWR, with appropriate financial incentives.

Given a choice: oil men will board plane to Alaska or Rio?

You have the opportunity to work wherever you want. It is a sellers' market. Their wives, kids and girlfriends will decide for them...

Hard decision to make!! Rio de Janeiro or Alaska?
