Do you wonder why the "natural" oil seepage has gone away over the recent years?

The same reason it's gone away at Galveston and South Padre beaches, that would be my bet: Tankers have stopped pumping out their dead volumes and bilges before making port, which was once the common practice. They do it now, and the MMS / Coast Guard picks them up on imaging satellites and into jail the captain goes, with vessel impounded.

It still occasionally happens that a tanker will pump out as he steams past a platform and hope the platform will take the rap.

Regards to all,
Aggie
