Quit nitpicking. Monopolies and oligopolies are no good. More relevant would be details on McCain and the Keating Five.

I think Bumar is partially correct but i think he is only talking about oil production within the US. Basically most--at least 80%-- of the overall production/refining and marketing of oil in the US is controlled by less than 10 companies. We get 60% plus of oil from foreign countries, Canada and Mexico being the leaders. The other 40% of our oil is from domestic producers, but even there many producers just pump the stuff from their land sell it right away , and have no say in pricing and often get 1/4 or 3/8 of set prices royalty payments.
