The prime beef cuts are already terrifically expensive (by my lights, anyway).

The demand will be there from those who can afford it. I would pay twice what I have been paying for chicken and be happy to get it. Many years ago, I paid $1.00 for a very scraggly live chicken that could not have had more than a couple of pounds of meat on it. That would be like $3.00 or more a pound right now. That was normal pricing then.

<<In Iowa, the No. 1 U.S. corn grower, floods inundated about 9 percent of corn crops, representing about 1.2 million acres — almost 1.5 percent of the country's anticipated harvest.>>

That's one of the fulla shit reports. USDA said a 17% reduction in crops in Iowa. 17% hasn't been planted yet and 20% is under water. Replant with beans? Beans like it dry and the replant is because it's wet.

The USDA will trickle out the bad news to stop spikes in prices.
