>>As I said before, this is irrelevant because second hand smoke only became an issue to people in the last few years.<<

define "few" please.

california passed a no smoking law in 1994. it was an issue well before then.

"few" isn't the appropriate adjective.

fact, 2nd hand smoke has been an issue for over 2 decades.

fact, many states still, 2 decades later, haven't outlawed smoking in restaurants and bars.

fact, FF still hasn't named a single smoke free restaurant by choice. i have zero recollection of a smoke free restaurant. i found very few by googling them.

yes, they are out there, but their extremely limited relative existence proves the rule that non smokers don't have reasonable freedom to dine in a smoke free restaurant (in states that still allow smoking in restaurants) and, even more importantly, restaurant workers don't have the freedom to work outside a toxic work environment.

for example, exactly zero smoke free restaurants are listed for seattle:

smokefreeworld.com

there is 1 location in all of bellevue, 3 in tacoma and zero in everett (one bowling alley).

that's several million non smokers covered by those areas.

your alleged free market for non smoking failed. business owners don't always make rational decision. rational decisions sometimes shaft those in the right.

the free market doesn't always do what is right, especially when so many people are trying to game the system for personal enrichment at the expense of others.

isn't this obvious?
