Making gas taxes progressive is not a bad idea. Establish a minimum amount of gas each family can have and then those who want to exceed that minimum pay more taxes that will go into a fund to finance alternative energy research. Good idea! Thanks!

I don't know about "the libs" but I will tell you that the middle and lower middle class pay a LOT more as a percentage of income than the "rich" in total taxes. Nothing progressive at all about the total tax system.
