Many people who receive those dividends spend most of the year in Arizona and a few summer months in Alaska.

mindmeld:So if I move to Alaska, I get a dividend? How do you qualify for that giveaway?

koan: One year residency. It is not a give away, it is our oil. But equally, the permanent fund (PF) was formed so the people would always protect it by getting a dividend each year. It was not only fair, but had logic.

It is near impossible for a corrupt legislature to raid the permanent fund. We have 40 billion in it right now and it is growing fast with $130/40 dollars a barrel.

Alberta had the first 'soverign wealth fund", but they made a critical error. they started investing the money in their privence and lost most of it. Alaska took note. What happens when you allow that, is the corrupt politicians steal it.

We have a rule. The money had to be invested outside Alaska in stocks, bonds and real estate. Ane the very first thing we do with the earnings each year is inflation poof it.

Our permanent fund is a work of art the way it is put together. The way it is protected and diversified.
