It is pretty clear that was their reasoning behind the idea. Just read the two things I linked to.


Your links require an absolute torture of logic to get to your conclusion. Your reasoning is totally convoluted:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Thus, you figure, the fact that we don't have such militia today somehow invalidates the Amendment. The obvious question, and one that totally shoots down your "argument" (if you can call it that), "What happens if we need form a militia today, if we aren't permitted to have arms with which to do it?" Damn, I didn't think of THAT.
