I agree completely. Been riding for 30+ years and I can attest to planting my foot into someones car door that with no warning tried pulling into my lane. It's dangerous enough for us riders no matter how careful we are. I've developed a simple plan everytime I get on the highway. As soon as possible get into the far left lane. That way, for one, when someone does cut into you (and they will) you've got the safety shoulder to go to. Also since there's no motorist on your left side, you're essentially making your job of scanning easier. Also, if I can possibly help it, I NEVER ride along side of any moving vehicle.

Once, when I first started riding, I was along side a car and this woman actually made eye contact with me before almost running me off the rode........
