Once, when I first started riding, I was along side a car and this woman actually made eye contact with me before almost running me off the rode........

That's something that's stressed over and over again in the MSF course - just because you make eye contact, don't assume they see you.

I had a guy on a bike in the left lane ride right about at my rear door where I couldn't see the SOB. After about 5 miles of that I disengaged the cruise to let him go. I thought dood you have no survival instinct at all to be riding right in a persons blind spot.
