Higher proportion of cultural groups that want higher birth rates -- Latino immigrants, Middle Eastern immigrants, African immigrants, Catholic and evangelical Christian native-borns.

I have two different couples with six children per couple -- one Egyptian couple, one Palestinian couple. Most of my Latino, Middle Eastern, and African clients have three or four or even five children, as do many of my younger clients.

Despite what the gloom and doomers claim, Americans in general remain quite affluent, and for some, that means they can afford to have more children.

Personally I would have liked to have had more than two, myself, but my husband wanted only two.

Some interesting demographic factoids.

Republicans are more likely to get married, stay married, and have children. Democrats are more likely to never get married, and have abortions.

Most future population growth in the US is due to net gains from immigration.

Without immigrants, mostly Hispanic, our population would decrease.

pewsocialtrends.org

Hispanic population will triple in size through 2050.

Education is the most effective form of birth control. Since it generally leads to affluence, the educated and the affluent have low birth rates, at least in America.

Whites will be a minority by 2050.

Besides immigrants of whatever origin tending to be more hopefull and have more kids, kids have become a bit fashionable in the past 7 or 10 years.

Many of the baby boomers married late and had few kids.

Now some non-boomers see marriage in a more favorable light.

There may also be a slight trend of women having their kids earlier, before 30, when they are less likely to need medical help with fertility. Many women see they can go back to a career after the kids are older, the choice is not either/or, or carreer first, but when.

Some other studies have shown a tendency for higher income and more educated people to have slightly more children than they used to.

This may change the demographic window for the US.
