Maurice tells me by PM (for some reason) that anyone could have predicted the fall of the Soviet Union. In fact he himself saw it coming. Everyone but the CIA knew it I guess.

Reagan knew Poland was going to fall, and that would be the first crack in the wall.

He knew Poland was going to fall because he helped make it happen through William Casey. Casey sent Lane Kirkland over there to teach Lech Walesa how to organize a union, which became the solidarity movement. When John Paul II kissed the ground in Poland, it was over for the Russians, and they knew it.
