You would think so, but almost every totalitarian state out there has been an exercise in backwardness. Benevolent dictators have been far and few in-between, and when they do appear, their successors are almost always the complete opposite of benevolence.

Anyway, with redistricting and pork money, incumbency has done more to damage this nation than anything else. (Probably the best thing about Obama is that he's anything but an incumbent.) Only way to get real change to happen in this country is via a crisis ... and even then, we're probably going to see a move toward EU-style socialism.

Government has once again become the solution rather than the problem. Oh well, guess we'll give socialism another shot.
