Yes, this is the nonsense people bring up that helps perpetuate the myth. Everyone has an anecdotal story that claims if you work hard and save your money, you will become rich. And if it doesn't happen, its your fault....your screw up. I never said you would become rich, but anyone who makes the right choices and works hard can make a reasonable life for themselves in this country. We're talking horatio alger, not reasonable. The myth is you can be born poor but if you work hard, you will become rich. Not true.
