I don't agree that we can drill our way out of this; setting aside the danger to the environment, there is not enough readily available reserve in NA to make a difference in today's oil market. I see so you believe we should not do anything and continue the decline in USA total production forever. If we manage to lower our daily consumption through alternative fuels and at the same time increase our production I see no reason we cannot achieve 100% independence. There exist only estimates of "reserves" in unexplored areas - no one knows for sure what's there. Reminds me of the typical "if it only saves one <insert cause here>" mantra except in this case the liberals have abandoned their motto and lost all common sense.
