To: tejek who wrote (25725 ) 7/12/2008 7:36:57 AM From: RetiredNow Read Replies (5) | Respond to of 149317 Hi Tejek, I was in an ironic mood, so I came up with a list of the top 10 neocon ideological ironies that show how truly ridiculous the Republican party has become: 1) The same people who claim not wearing a US flag lapel pin is unpatriotic are the same people who want the US to remain addicted to oil and to the resources of our worst enemies, instead of diversifying our energy sources. 2) The same people who want us to remain in Iraq for 100 years are the same people who don't want to raise their own taxes to pay for it. 3) The same people who believe in free trade are the same people who call it protectionist if you want to negotiate free trade agreements that level the playing field for US companies to be able to compete effectively against other countries like China. 4) The same people who believe in small government are the same people who are responsible for 90% of our $10 trillion national debt and our ongoing $500B/year budget deficits and the same people that stopped abiding by the Pay As You Go rules in Congress. 5) The same people who claim to be the party of the devout Christians are the same people that regularly call for war and with their "bring 'em on" attitude are responsible for the deaths of 4,000 Americans in the recent Iraq war and over 100,000 Iraqis, all for the pursuit of more oil supplies. 6) The same people that claim patriotism is their strength and their creed are the same people that have launched the most successful and destructive campaign against the US Constitution in the history of the United States through their pursuit and signing of the Patriot Act and now the FISA law that essentially allows warrantless monitoring of American citizens' correspondence with very little judicial oversight. 7) The same people that decry the obstructionist tactics of the environmentalists as they try to secure more Federal land for oil drilling are the same people who pressured the Federal Bureau of Land Management to put a two year moratorium on building solar power farms in the US deserts so they could study the environmental effects. 8) The same people who claim to be the ones with all the answers on the economy are the same people who think the economic malaise we're in now is all in our heads and that we're just a country of whiners. 9) The same people that spend hundreds of billions on the latest science and technology for warfare, scoff at and ridicule the global scientific community for their use of the latest science and technology to conclude that climate change is linked to human production of CO2 and are the same people who have reduced government spending on science and technology R&D to the lowest levels in our lifetime. 10) The same people who continually say the government shouldn't tell us what to do are the same people who are famous for ignoring polls on popular opinions because they believe they know what's best for the people when it comes to Iraq, climate change, taxes, and a host of other issues. Given this list of Republican buffoonery, it is no wonder, they are getting thrown out of the White House and losing many seats in Congress.
