Energy is freedom, but energy based solely on OIL is NOT.

So, let's say we had started drilling on our continental shelf and in Anwar and EVERY place there was a 'drop' of oil 10 years ago.

Would gas be cheaper today? Yeah, probably. It would only be up to $4 bucks rather than $4.50. You see, OPEC adjusts their output according to the market price. If we were pumping more oil in the U.S., OPEC would have been pumping LESS. It's rather naive to think that there would be the SAME amount of production coming out of other countries if the U.S. were pumping more oil on its own.

We HAVE to get off this addiction to oil and these higher prices are just what the "Capitalism Doctor" ordered. If gas was still at $2 bucks the geniuses at Ford and GM would still be building those behemoth monstrosities and not even caring about fuel efficiencies. As it is now, those guys have finally had to WAKE UP and see why Toyota and Honda have been continually taking their market share.

LET the airlines go broke. Maybe the Country will start seriously looking at high speed train technology, where we've been COMPLETELY left behind by the Europeans and Japanese.

I'm hoping gas goes to $10 bucks a gallon.
