Were it that simple. But there are a bunch of factors, of which I'm sure you're aware: elasticity, speculation, alternatives (especially at the current prices), fear/regional unrest, politics of producing nations, etc. The few percent we're talking about will be lost as noise amongst those variables.

Drilling our way out (to independence or significantly different prices) is simply not an alternative. IMO our priorities should be:

1) Stabilization of the unrest (addresses price factors related to fear and speculation)
2) Alternatives (including nuclear)
3) Conservation

Hopefully, the next administration will get us on the right path.

If ANWR were in full production today, according to Bush, it would supply 670,000 barrels a day....about 3% of the world market. That would mean, optimistically, $0.12 off a gallon of gas... I can't wait...
