It is that simple. Every unit added to supply will make price lower than it would be w/o that unit. Drilling our way out (to independence or significantly different prices) is simply not an alternative. Independence, I think you're right. Significant? No way to know how significant that will be. Certainly no reason to justify saying its just not worth doing any more exploring for oil at all. IMO our priorities should be: 1) Stabilization of the unrest (addresses price factors related to fear and speculation) 2) Alternatives (including nuclear) 3) Conservation Ending the leasing ban doesn't prevent any of that.
