If Rogers believes what he says, which I believe he does, perhaps more temperate language is in order because, right or wrong, his words are very influential.

The holders of the bonds are mostly foreigners.

The holders of the shares are mostly US mutual funds.

No one wins is Fannie and Freddie go belly up.

And I agree that allowing them to BK will result in a global catastrophe.

I simply wonder how they were allowed to leverage like they did. A failure of oversight.

Bottom line: deleveraging is painful. I'd like to see those who are responsible for the leveraging to pay a lot more than the widows and orphans who bought 'conservative' mutual funds thinking that they were safe.
