Being a contrararian of contrarians might make you rich or it might land you squarely back in the middle of the main stream heading for the waterfall. Or maybe you think that the masses are buying gold at this time?

What I don't like about gold? This government has confiscated it once already and made it illegal to own. Consider they confiscate your gold. For each golf eagle you have, they give you $50 USD (that's what it says on the coin they're obligated to pay, after all). Gold won't be legal tender, so you can't use it as such except on the black market. All it will be is a giant heavy pain in the ass. I'm exaggerating a little to make the point that gold as an inflation hedge works only as long as the government decides to let it work...and they don't like anything out of their monetary control. Now when you get ready to flee the country for Canada or Mexico, it may come in handy for some bribes.
