You know Hugh, you say that government doesn't work, can't come up with solutions, etc.

In the '40's, the leadership became concerned that the Germans might get the A-bomb before we did. They set up and funded a program, and that program yielded a bomb in a little over three years - a feat that wasn't even know to be possible.

We could do the same today with alternative energy, if we had a leadership that believed it was possible. Bush is not that leadership. Maybe Obama will be, McCain certainly isn't.

Again it is not complicated. Solar, wind, etc is not that complicated. No need to involve the government. Subsidising their use only complicates the issue.

You were talking about gasoline, what do solar and wind have to do with anything. Unless you think we can get solar or wind cars to go along with you anti matter Volkswagon.

Speaking of complicating the issue, why are we subsidizing gasoline, essentially subsidizing the inefficient use of an increasingly precious commodity that is responsible for our weak dollar, 1/2 of trade deficit, the wealth of a handful of rogue regimes, and is taking mucho dinero out of our pocket and our economy every year?
