"I would observe that there are many scientists on both sides of this issue and each side has very impressive credentials." I haven't done a survey of the credentials on each side, but every time I have looked into these claims of thousands of scientists saying it's bunk, I have found the claims for their credentials to be inflated. The whole discussion of credentials, though, is nothing more than an "argument from authority," which is one of the pitfalls identified in Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit. users.tpg.com.au I'm much more impressed when people make reference to facts, evidence, and peer-reviewed articles on the subject.
