Obama's average lead is 4.2: This is true, but you can't average polls in this way. In particular, the polls run by the major media have been totally screwed up as is evidenced by the huge swings in the numbers (e.g., LA Times and Newsweek). One really has to look at the more credible organizations, like Rasmussen & Gallup, and forget the liberal organizations like NYT, ABC, Reuters, etc., which all have their own agendas. All these polls undercount for Obama, since they use land lines. No, they don't. Major polling organizations have figured out when/whether it is necessary to poll separately for cellphone-only households. For example, Gallup -- as it turns out, cellphone-only households tend not to be "likely voters": pollster.com But the main point is that credible polling organizations are not comprised of idiots, and they recognize the need to at least determine whether it is necessary to adjust the technique for cellphone-only households, and they are taking appropriate steps. As the link above indicates, Gallup includes cellphone-only households when a need to do so is indicated.
