I was windsurfing today, and as is customary at the beach, you discuss the size of sail you are about to go out on so others can gauge the wind. Today I was talking to a guy whose sailing was in transition because he had lost 25 lbs. How'd he do that? He got laid off from his job, and he was exercising more. His job? Commercial lending.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get into exactly what he did (it was sailing time after all). He said that he wasn't motivated to go work for Citi or BAC because he'd just get laid off again, so he was going to sail and bike for now.

Last recession it was the engineers at the beach (literally), this time it's the bankers.
