"A proper commitment to it could flood the market with rig availability in a matter of months." Offshore drilling rigs are some of the biggest structures on earth. "Months" is a REAL stretch! Don't you think a "proper commitment" to building windmills, solar and nuclear, which would give us power from then on forever, would be a much wiser use of our increasingly expensive materials and resouces?

There are rigs and there are rigs. The first rig is often a portable rig that drills a test hole. If it finds oil then a permanent rig is built. The portable rigs can be taken apart and moved in days. In fact if you have watched Ice Road Truckers recently you may have seen them do just that.

How do you do any "IMMEDIATE" drilling when there are not enough rigs to go around? We can build drilling rigs. A proper commitment to it could flood the market with rig availability in a matter of months. If a tiny fraction of the effort were expended on building oil infrastructure that we spent on WWII we could be flowing oil from OCS and ANWR drilling in a year. Hell, do I need to point out to you what America did in a short 3.8 years during WWII? What I have heard on CCs for oil service companies is that there is a year to 2 year backlog in rigs. The problem is the liberals won't get out of the way. Why don't you go steal something like a typical Republican.
