Last winter a lot of folks here in Downeast Maine used electric space heaters because they couldn't afford oil. They couldn't afford the electricity either but knew that, by law, their power couldn't be cut off until spring. Lots of people turning to wood now. I'm going in with a couple of neighbors for a hydraulic splitter.
