I've been looking for numbers on oil lobby money. Darn hard to find- or maybe I'm just not looking the right place. Have you ever seen numbers on this? There are reporting requirements. Where are the numbers?

Allen - Fair enough, I apologize for not reading your post more carefully. In regard to conservation. Sure why not. Why not do both? Why does doing one mean you cannot do another? Drill, build nuclear, wind, solar, coal, conserve, the whole nine-yards. Personally, I would be in favor of a HUGE tax subsidy for those who purchase high mileage vehicles. Over 40mpg, gets a 5 grand tax break. I've driven a small car on and off for years, mainly, because I saw no reason to have two vehicles that got poor gas mileage. And small cars are more fun to drive. I would really love to buy one of those Smart Cars that I had a blast driving when I lived in Italy a few years ago. And talk about easy to park! Haven't taken the plunge yet, but a 5 grand incentive might motivate me. Huge tax breaks for solar placed on new construction homes in the south seems logical to me too. However, the oil economy is not going away anytime soon, so why not open up more areas for drilling too? Do it all and stop sending billions of dollars overseas to cart in oil via tankers. Boundaryless solutions is what I support.
