All this talk of bears reminds me of a favorite joke....

2 friends are hiking through the woods when they come upon a grizzly.... One looks to the other who he notices is down on the ground putting on his running shoes.... He says to his friend, "why are you doing that, you know you can't out run a grizzly bear".... The other guy says, "I know, all I have to do is to out run you!".

The Forest Service has a bear viewing station over on Admiralty Island. I flew over there with my sister and BIL. We saw two or three grizzlies hunting for salmon. The station has an attendant to keep people from getting in trouble, which is probably a good thing for some people. Bears look pretty innocuous until you're eyeball to eyeball with them.
