I did consider the trip down to the car dump to collect a set of head lamps. Using the bulbs as a ready access to the focus points, you could construct the experiment fairly easily. First measure where the filaments are, break the glass and construct each piece of the experiment, the bases just plug into reflectors afterwards. A real bulb connected to 12 volts could be used to get the alignment set up. The bulbs could also be used to make a mould for the insulator etc.
