The process is quite well advanced in the U.K.

The camel's nose is disconcerting. It's all to easy to get used to loss of freedom.

Surely that piece you posted is exaggerated. I assume that they still use search warrants in the UK and that such intrusions aren't random. And hedge inspectors don't have to enter your home to measure. That can be done from the boundaries of your property.
