BTW, it is very difficult, nearly impossible to gain weight on Atkins diet, or more precisely, to gain fat.

I have been low-carbing successfully for years now. But I tried the Atkins diet back in the sixties with a different result. I got the Atkins book that included both the Quick Weight Loss Diet and the Quick Inches Off Diet. The latter is a vegetarian diet. I took one look at the former, ascertained that beef, mushrooms, and sour cream were all permissible, and proceeded to stuff myself with Beef Stroganoff all day every day for a week or so, by which time I had gained so much weight I had to quit. I later had success on the latter diet, which got rid of the saddle bags on my otherwise great figure.

So it is possible to gain wait on the Atkins Diet. <gg>

The reason I like low-carbing is because I'm not hungry. Carbs make me terribly hungry. It's really a miracle, IMO.

Yeah, it's pretty well "meat and eggs" for the first couple of weeks. In response to Lane's mention of blood glucose mine was 94 on the last test, which is at the warning level. Under 100 is considered "normal."

I take Allopurinol for Gout, Urate crystallizes around your joints, so I will have to be careful to drink a lot of liquid to keep from having an attack. A gout attack will drive me off the diet. I have Colchicine on hand to handle an attack.

I normally drink two quarts a day of water a day, which is on my list. I make into iced tea with splenda, which is allowed. I don't think the caffeine will increase my appetite that much.

If I stay with good quality meat in small portions and keep the eggs at about six a day, I think I will get by OK. The diet allows 20mg of carb the first two weeks, but I see no reason to even go for that much. I should be in Ketoses by midweek. I am buying Ketostixs to check my urine.

One of the reasons for Atkins success IMO is after about 3 days you don't even crave carbs and your never hungry. If you are, eat something. Just about any other diet I've tried involves depriving yourself and being hungry and that just doesn't work for me and most others.
