I don't get that. Substituting an equal number of rice calories for wheat calories just gets you a bit less nutrition, no less weight.

As I understood Dr. Davis, he was claiming an addictive like response to wheat, which would make you eat more of it than you would, say, rice. But if you aren't subject to that wheat overeating response, it would seem to do you no good weight-wise to switch to rice. Oats at least have some nutritive value. I can't see the value of eating rice other than the satisfaction of a full belly. If you want some starch, seems to me like potato is a better bet.
