With TD, you can do the US stock buys/sells online.

The only (minor) downside is that you have to call TD to ask them to fund your purchase of the US stock from the US $ MM fund, right after you buy the stock.

Right after you sell the stock, you have to call them to tell them to put the cash from the sale back into the US $ MM fund. Otherwise it gets auto-converted back to CDN dollars.

They never seem to mind doing the extra work, and there are no conversion or other costs associated with it. Give them a ring. Any of their traders should be able to explain it.
