"I don't really care what happened in 1972."

Well, you should. We were exploring and drilling as fast as we could. Yet, there we were, with a peak. And no real sign of another Prudhoe Bay, much less several.

"I care about increasing supply today and developing alternatives for tomorrow."

Well, that is what peak oil means. Increasing supply isn't going to happen. Decreasing the rate of decline, now that is possible. But decline is the future.

CJ, > However, it does mean that you need to take that into account and start looking elsewhere.

I don't really care what happened in 1972. I care about increasing supply today and developing alternatives for tomorrow.

I would say its nearly impossible to increase supply. Old wells are dying out so fast that we are simply playing a game of trying to stay in place and failing miserably at it.

That is why I would prefer that most of our resources were directed at developing altern. energy sources.
